As a young girl growing up in a latin household I would always watch my mother create natural scrubs and lotions, she was a big believer in natural do it yourself products. I can happily say that the DIY trait was passed down to me, I enjoy finding natural products around the house and creating my own scrubs with my favorite scents. One easy affordable ingredient that we all have in our pantry is Sugar, with this one ingredient there are so many beauty tricks that can be incorporated into your daily beauty routine from your face to your toes. Here are some of my favorite sugar DIY tricks.
Are you feeling that your lips are not as smooth since the season started to change? A quick tip that you can incorporate into your daily routine is to wet your finger tips, dip them into granulated sugar and then gently move your fingertips in a circular motion to exfoliate them.
Does this cold air have your skin feeling dry and flaky? Then you must try one of my favorite scrubs that smells yummy and leaves my skin feeling smooth. I create the scrub by mixing a cup of brown sugar with one banana.
Once the sun is gone, then soon after that perfect beach tan is slowly fading away leaving some of us to brave the sunless tanning efforts. One of the things I do to prepare is mix a cup of sugar with a teaspoon of coconut oil to create a smooth exfoliating scrub that creates a perfect glow on your skin.
After a long summer of wearing a combination of flip flops and sandals my feet can become dry. I create a scrub with a cup of sugar and two teaspoons of peppermint oil that I use while I am in the shower to rub on the bottom of my feet.
Before there were long lasting lipsticks, my mother had her own DIY trick where she would sprinkle a bit of sugar onto of her lips with freshly applied lipstick, she would let it sit, then lick it off. This easy trick would set the lipstick and will extend it.
As my mother would say, you can easily purchase a product but there is nothing more gratifying then creating a product for yourself that was created with love.
