Ladies we can all admit that our skin has taken a beaten this winter. If you were to examine your skin I am sure you will find dry, flacky and cracking skin which is not the way you want to welcome in the beautiful summer weather. As a mother I can completely understand how life’s complex schedules can overwhelm us and may not leave room to pamper ourselves. Here are some easy techniques and DIY treatments that won’t consume time with items around your household to get your skin summer ready.
Eliminate Hot Showers: I can admit that my water temperature needs to be steaming when I shower, my philosophy is the hotter the better. Unfortunately many of us are not aware that those extreme temperatures actually irritates our skin that already has little or no moisture. That actually helps to intensify the flaky, dry, and irritated skin instead of improving the issue. The easy solution is to use lukewarm water, reduce your shower time, and maybe mentally picture your self in a nice beach.
Exfoliate Your Winter Skin Away: In the past when I lived in Miami I use to concentrate on exfoliating my face only and neglected the rest of my body. Unfortunately after my first harsh winter living in New York I noticed that my entire body had areas of dry and flaky skin especially my hands, arms, legs, and feet. I immediately changed my regimen and began exfoliating my entire body. Yes, you can purchase an exfoliator at your local pharmacy but I like to create my own at home by taking two tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon of coconut oil and just like that you created a natural scrub that will leave your skin smooth and moisturized.
Moisturize Your Skin To Silkiness: This has to be one of the most important parts of your skin regimen, it is extremely important to provide your skin moisture to relieve the dry skin that is irritated and crying for some moisture. What we do not realize is that in the winter we tend to turn on our heat, while yes we are heating ourselves up and keeping our home warm we are also removing the moisture that our skin needs to remain healthy. If you are in the market for a moisturizer one of my favorites has to be cold-pressed virgin coconut oil, it feels amazing once you warm some with the palm of your hands and massage it in your skin. I also enjoy creating my own moisturizer you will need to mix 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla oil, 1 tablespoon of vitamin E, 1/4 cup of coconut oil and 1/2 cup of Shea butter in a bowl, place it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes, and stir. This DIY moisturizer will leave your skin feeling radiant and smooth.
Time For A New Soap Bar: I can admit that I do love a soap bar that has a great scent but the reality is that my skin doesn’t feel the same. I am obsessed with Doves Sensitive White Beauty Bar, not only does it smell amazing it leaves your skin feeling smooth. Sometimes your skin is telling you that it needs a change, something so simple as a new soap bar can change the way your skin feels.
These easy skin regimens and tips can leave your skin feeling amazing and ready to enjoy those suns rays and Springs temperatures.
