With the fall season arriving this is not only a sign that the pumpkin spice latte will soon be at your local coffee shop, pumpkin picking with the family is right around the corner, and the season of wearing layers is here. This also means that our skincare regimen must change as well. The summer season represents endless amounts of time at the beach and pool, unfortunately with all that fun we are soaking up the beautiful suns harmful rays and the damages of the chlorine eventually will begin to show in our skins complexion in the colder months that will increase fine lines, sun spots will appear, freckles will be visible, and the heavy feeling dryness in our skin will arrive. The sun exposure makes the collagen deplete which can promote early aging.
Here are 3 skin care tips for fall to give you a kickstart to your beauty regimen:
1. Time to moisturizer: Exchange your fragrance bar or body soap to a gentle fragrance free cleanser that will not only hydrate but moisturize your entire body. You should use products that contain Shea butter, olive oil, or natural oils to help soften your skin and condition away the dry skin.
2. Exfoliate your skin: To brighten and repair your skin’s complexion, it is important to properly exfoliate your skin to remove the dry and dead skin cells that clog your skin. You can create your own natural scrub with sugar as it is a natural source of glycol acid and will help boost new cell production and breaks down the protein that keep dead cells on your skin. I create my own sugar scrub by creating a lather with my skin-sensitive dove beauty bar and mixing in some sugar to create a dense scrub that I scrub in a circular motion onto my face and areas in my body that are in need of exfoliation, then I rinse with warm water.
3. Give your lips a lift: To help smooth out dry, cracked lips and leave them soft. Apply vaseline to your lips, then take a new soft bristle toothbrush and gently scrub the dead skin off.
