Disney’s Pixar Studios has once again created a story that will fill a child’s heart with passion and determination. A passion for music fuels the journey through a colorful land full of imagination. The story of a 12-year-old boy Miguel, as he goes after his dream and love for music against his families wishes. Music has been banned from his family for generations. Miguel discovers a tape of his late music idol Ernesto de la Cruz. As he watches, the late musician leaves him with words of inspiration as he says, ” I have to sing. I have to play. The music, it’s not just in me, it is me.”
Instantly Miguel discovers that he is related to the late musician de la Cruz. Miguel’s curiosity brings him to visit the late musician’s grave. Intrigued with the guitar over the grave Miguel accidently enters the Land of the Dead with his trusted companion Dante, taking him on an imaginable adventure through the Land of the Dead.
“Coco” opens in U.S. theaters on November 22, 2017. With an all Latino cast featuring Anthony Gonzalez as the voice of Miguel, Benjamin Bratt as the voice of Ernesto de la Cruz, and Gael Garcia Bernal as the voice of the charming trickster Hector. The film is directed by Lee Unkrich from (Toy Story 3), co-directed by Adrian Molina (story artist “Monsters University”) and produced by Darla K. Anderson (“Toy Story 3”).
It is a breath of fresh air, that Disney Pixar continues to create stories that will fuel creativity, passion, culture, and determination in children. I look forward to seeing this movie with my children.
